The Harris Museum and Art Gallery has a wide range of ceramics, glass, costume and other items in its decorative art collection. Preston solicitor Cedric Houghton left his fine ceramics collection to the Harris in 1910, and this is the basis of the ceramics display on the museum's first floor. Alongside well-known names like Wedgwood and Minton are commemorative ceramics for the Preston Guild and Royal Jubilees.

On the second floor is the Costume Gallery, devoted to changing displays from the museum's costume and textile collection.  The collection includes historical and contemporary dress and items linked to Preston Guilds and local textile companies.
