The earliest landscape images tended to be merely backdrops to a story.  By the 18th century, they were expressions of the sublime in nature.  Contemporary artists, on the other hand, use landscape to explore society's attitudes to nature.  By displaying such works side by side, this show, drawn from the Harris' collection, explores the varying responses to landscape shown by artists throughout the ages.

Amongst the artists included are JMW Turner, Samuel Palmer, David Cox, Andy Goldsworthy and Keith Arnatt.
