Volatile Light

IOU Volatile Light

Installation
20 July - 26 August

An unmissable FREE light and sound experience for all the family!

Step out of the summer sunshine and into a different world. Experience an all-enveloping combination of light and sound with you at the centre of a miniature, wrap-around universe of moving lights and sounds.

Volatile Light features an array of specially made machines with LED lights attached to rotating arms, levers and cranks to weave a series of eccentric curves, sweeping arcs and hectic scribbles in the darkened gallery. Lights are transformed into a complex mixture of overlapping light trails and patterns using digital technology.

All the family can have a go at creating their own light patterns using special light toys and will love exploring the Volatile Light virtual world.

Volatile Light was originally commissioned by Junction Goole.  IOU and Junction Goole are funded by Arts Council England. IOU is generously supported by Dean Clough Mills.
