Families

If you’re spending a day in Preston make sure you include a visit to the Harris Museum & Art Gallery. Whether you’re just passing and fancy something different to do or are planning to spend some time together as a family, we have plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. It’s not just about programmed events either – just turn up and enjoy a range of permanent activities available for families.
The Avenham and Miller park is just down the road and we’re a short bus ride away from other museums in the city, including the Museum of Lancashire, Queen’s Lancashire Regimental Museum and the Ribble Steam Railway so you can spend a whole day in the city.
Please note that the Museum of Lancashire is currently closed for refurbishment and is due to reopen in 2011. Check out the Hands on Gang website or our fan page on Facebook to see what's happening.
Take a look at what else is going on for families at the museums in Preston at www.prestonhandsongang.com. Come and meet the Hands on Gang who will show you round!
Check out the calendar for dates and times.
Take a look at the The Gallery for an online display of some of the wonderful things created in our workshops.
We have accessible toilets, baby changing facilities, a café and shop with pocket money souvenirs. We’re in the heart of the city centre near the shops and share the building with the central library. For more information about activities, facilities for families and bookings call us on 01772 905414.
