1960 The Horrockses company is taken over.

This spells the end of the Horrockses, Crewdson and Company. The assets and subsidiaries of the company, like Horrockses Fashions, are sold. In 1962 the Yard Works closes. The machinery from the Yard Works is shipped to South Africa and the company transfers its operations to Centenary Mill for a time. Soon however all the mills closed and Horrockses cotton cloth ceased to be made in Preston.
