Nellie Calland was born 23rd January, 1900 in Preston. The Calland family lived in George's Row and George Street in Preston. Nellie had three sisters and a brother. Nellie and her sister Cissie worked at the Yard Works for most of their lives. Both of the sisters never married. Nellie was one of thousands of women who worked for Horrockses.
